The need for companionship seems unavoidable especially as one ages, the more one meets the greater the urge to stay closer. It largely behoves on the individuals to choose what to do with themselves based on what they want. But there is this recent phenomenon which has gotten a lot of young adults within its sway; the elderly ones influencing it to a large extent. Young adults dating elderly adults with benefits aimed to be derived from both parties. The youngster having dreams and ambitions sees the matured ones who are often thought to be successful based on experience as stepping stones for achieving success. The elderly need them for a sort of rejuvenation which they have been deprived of or lost over time. Whichever way, the idea of mutual benefits from both parties cannot be excluded or over emphasized.
The fore going may not be in a tell tale fashion but it serves as a precursor to an experience which appeared to seem awkward, but with time it became a lesson no one else could have ever taught me. With an inheritance surplus enough to take care of a community, I never saw the need for the need of a man for hire. Most of my mates were happily married with kids, a good number of them slightly past childbearing age but all these never bothered me. Having lived as a child with a hostile father who always molested my mother I painted a picture of myself living without a man who would molest and abuse me whenever I aired my views. As you would expect, pressure came from different people, asking about companionship. A good number of activities kept me busy; golfing was a good sport for a 38-year-old lady. Cycling kept me occupied during the weekends, so what time was left for me during the week to think of a man for hire service.
I rarely attend parties unless they were strictly by invitation. And the invitations often came from people of timber and calibre.
I was going through my email when Alice, my college bestie sent a message to me, she told me the Mayor of the Eastend county was throwing a banquet and sequel to this, I needed to be there, of course, it was an invitation, the event was to hold on Saturday so I seemed to have enough time to get ready. I was okay with the invitation. But an hour later Sheila called me and told me the same thing, I was nonetheless amused or excited with the news anyways but she got me startled when she told me she was not going with her husband. I asked if she would go alone, she replied in the negative stating that she would use a man for hire service.” man for hire”! I exclaimed. She went on to tell me I could do the same as there were good looking men out there ready for the “job”. I declined the offer, thanked her and went on with my work, but I repeatedly mused over that idea Sheila was proposing. It really sounded absurd to me but I had reasons handy enough for me to discard it.
To show how serious she was, Sheila sent me images of good looking men on their contacts, one actually caught my fancy but Sheila was quick enough to tell he was taken. I thought over the idea of going out with a good looking dude but I quickly changed my thoughts when I considered the questions which eminent people would ask me at the event. Questions bothering on my relationship status were a no go area for me, these were ample reasons which made me discard the idea of hiring a man I could go out with.
Saturday finally came and I was ready for the event, with a long pink gown reaching down to the heel, and a red heeled shoe to match I presumed I was good to go. The venue was by a pool side supposedly within the mayor’s residence, guests were walking into the residence dressed in colourful attires, bar men with wined filled tumblers arranged in trays were everywhere. I sighted Alice as she walked into the residence, but the male figure she was cuddled in arms with a guy who seemed unfamiliar. She got a man for hire to spice her evening. Reaching for my wine I chuckled.
The event kicked off and barely five minutes into the mayor’s speech, two gun shots rang. The Sherriff was trying to disarm a young man who was brandishing a pistol, but by the time the tension calmed down three casualties were grossly recorded. Fortunately, Sheila’s man had protected her from the armed guy. Sheila not only hired a man she also hired a hero.
